Fianko keeps what you do on your phone. It sends us how the app is used only if you say yes.
In the app
What is saved
The course you chose, the lessons you finished and their stars, the moves you review, your streak, what you told Fianko when you started (your first name, your level, your goal, how you like to play, how you found the app, the opening you started with and the streak you aim for), the steps of the introduction you have already seen, whether sounds and vibration are on, the language you chose, and your daily reminder: its time, and the reminders planned for the next days. For the puzzles: your rating and its last 50 changes, the puzzles you have already seen, and how many you played today and on which day. Your streak is also copied to the home screen widget. Your answer on sharing how the app is used. Nothing else.
What leaves your phone
Nothing about how you use the app, unless you say yes to sharing: when you start, or with "Share usage and errors" in the settings. Then Fianko sends PostHog, the service we use to count, on its servers in the European Union: the screens you open, your answers to the first questions (level, goal, how you like to play, how you found the app, opening, streak goal, and whether you gave a first name, never the name itself), the lessons you finish or leave with their stars, right moves and time, the courses you switch to, your puzzles and your rating, the settings you change, the page of Fianko Plus and what happens when you buy or restore it, when the app opens and closes, the errors it runs into, the course you are on, your language and whether you have Plus, and the phone's model, Android version and language, and the country and city it is sent from. It goes under a random number that names no one, never with your name, and we share it with no one. PostHog keeps it for up to one year, then deletes it. Turning the switch off stops it at once. Fianko has no account and no ads. Fianko Plus is bought through Google Play, which handles the payment. RevenueCat, the service that checks purchases for us, receives what you buy or restore, under a random number that names no one. "Contact us" opens your mail app, and nothing goes until you send it.
The backup of your phone
Fianko asks Android not to back up its data, so your progress is not copied to Google Drive or to any other backup. If you change phone, you start again.
Erasing it
"Reset progress" in the settings erases your progress, your puzzle rating and what you told Fianko when you started. It does not erase your settings for sounds, vibration, language, sharing, daily reminder and widget. Removing the app erases everything.
If Fianko starts to collect anything else, this page will say what and why before it does.
On this website
No cookies, no trackers
This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics, ads or trackers. If you choose a language, your browser remembers it on your device, and nowhere else.
Hosting
Like any website, the company that hosts this one receives your IP address and the page you ask for, to send it to you and to protect the site from abuse. We do not use it to find out who you are.
Google Play
Google handles the download of Fianko, and any purchase, under its own privacy policy. From Google we only see the anonymous figures it gives every developer, like the number of downloads.
Children
Fianko is for everyone who wants to learn chess. It sends nothing about the use of the app unless the person using it says yes, and never a name, so it collects nothing that tells who a child is.
